A great start to Vibrant Parks for 2019 in Birkenhead Park, Wirral on Saturday 6th April. Over 500 people attended the Heritage event with a range of activities for the local public to participate in from hat making to egg and spoon races. The weather was excellent as was the attitude the twenty Vibrant Parks volunteers showed on the day.
Volunteers were involved in gathering research about HYPE’s newly founded Victorian Courtyard, selling coffee and teas, running the Victorian Sports games and also working from the Victorian Sweet shop which was officially opened on the day. The competition to name the sweet shop was completed with three lucky winners all naming the Sweet Shop ‘Sweets and Treats’.
On Sunday 7th April from Birkenhead Park we welcomed our new partners Liverpool FC Foundation who delivered a volunteer recruitment day in preparation for the Open Goals project that will be delivered in Birkenhead Park for children and young people.
In total HYPE engaged with 193 children and young people at the Saturday event and over the weekend in Birkenhead Park we had 27 volunteers aged 16-24 years involved actively. Like we said what a great start…….
