HYPE’s new five-year cycle development and delivery for 2020-25 focuses on getting more people cycling. It plans to attract more members and provide more opportunities for members to get involved in the cycling movement across the Liverpool City Region.

HYPE has always been passionate about the potential of cycling to make life better for people. Today we are currently working with hundreds of people and many diverse communities who share our passion and want to create a cycle culture. Within Merseyside we are part of a growing social movement.

Our bike expansion plans encapsulate a desire to be the facilitators of services, which enhance the lives of cyclists and would-be cyclists in Wirral and across the Liverpool City Region. HYPE will be making cycling cheaper, safer, more pleasurable, and a natural choice for as many people as possible.

By implementing our programme we will get more people, more active, more often.

Behaviour Change

Our team of staff and volunteers at The HUB will provide more inspiration and practical support for new cyclists; more and better cycling opportunities; better bike maintenance and safety education; and a fundamental change in culture and attitudes towards cycling. They will provide valuable learning, which will encourage others to follow.

We believe people are the key to bringing about positive, lasting change. People who are passionate about cycling as a vital ingredient in happier, healthier communities and who are willing to do some-thing about it – by inspiring and helping others, by helping change attitudes, by influencing our communities, and through creating and sharing knowledge.

Our HUB Volunteer programme will be a prime example of how people can inspire others through social action, education and delivery.

Supporting a thriving cycling culture

Across our communities we currently have a small group of volunteers that are creating and sup-porting a thriving cycling culture with our children and young people. They are educating, inspiring, influencing and supporting.

They get things done through formal or informal community groups; in our schools settings and youth clubs; or via networks and digital platforms. The HUB will enhance the number of our local volunteer champions to increase the cycle culture within our region. Together we are an influential social movement.

At the heart of our strategy are people, we want our members to access all our services to ensure they receive value, education and satisfaction. By providing this our membership will grow by 25% each year.

Our key strategic activities are:

  • As an organisation we will grow and diversify our income and develop our organisation
  • Grow a bigger, more diverse volunteer network
  • Improve the way we engage with groups
  • Expand our behaviour change programmes
  • Collaborate more
  • Influence a wider range of people
  • Be more responsive to the different needs of places
