Walk Run Cycle Play – The Story So Far
Walk Run Cycle Play was founded by HYPE Merseyside, working in partnership with Canal and River Trust and Merseyrail, with the mission of encouraging more people to participate in leisure activities which nourish both body and mind.
We wanted to breathe life back into the stunning promenades which we are fortunate to have in our region, so as a starting point we decided to form groups in Liverpool and Wirral to meet up and enjoy outdoor exercise.
We meet every Sunday morning and are active between 10am and 12pm and everyone is welcome. Our Wirral event is along the longest promenade in the UK, New Brighton to Seacombe Promenade and our Liverpool event is along the Riverside Walkway from the Royal Albert Dock.
The story of WRCP began when we identified the need to bring together members of the community from all walks of life, to enjoy activities which benefit both their mental and physical wellbeing.
Walk Run Cycle Play has the vision of being fully inclusive for all people, no matter what their level of personal fitness or their age and we have taken great care to ensure that we have routes suitable for all ability levels – you can exercise for a length of time which is suited to you and we have amazing staff and volunteers manning our checkpoints to look after you.
Getting regular exercise has never been more important and there are huge benefits to exercising outdoors on a regular basis, so we are excited to launch our new autumn Walk Run Cycle Play event programme soon, with several of our events planned for 2021.
